Why does Méliès say this? Melies does not want Hugo to end up having the same issues he had as a kid by believing that things in movies happen in real life. He wants Hugo to know the truth, which is that fairy tails don't happen in real life, but only in stories. He is worried that Hugo will never know this, so he just tells him early on.
Why does he want to forget about the films he made?
He wanted to forget about the creativity and magical Wonderland type of Worlds he always imagined. He stopped believing in his dreams and creative side. the films he made almost always consisted of this creativity, which really made Georges Méliès want to forget about these films, until Hugo came along.
Do you think the film Hugo has a happy ending? Why or why not?
Yes, i think Hugo ended very happy. It is ironic because it had a happy ending itself, while suggesting earlier that happy endings don't exist. In the end Hugo got a much better and more Humane life rather than living in a train station, he finally was offered the opportunity to pursue his dreams, and that's exactly what he did. Georges Méliès also was reconnected with his past film life due to Hugo's creative mind and presence.

Georges Méliès: “If you’ve ever wondered where your dreams come from, you look around...this is where they’re made.”
Georges Méliès: “My friends, I address you all tonight as you truly are; wizards, mermaids, travellers, adventurers, magicians... Come and dream with me.” What do these quotes teach us about the connection between the cinema and dreams?
In the first quote we are told that the dreams we dream up every single day and night are created and formed by the world around us. What is being said is that things in the world that are reality can be taken in many different varieties of ways, creating a sort of new world and dreams for the thinker. The quote shows that the world is not only a place of realism where everyone is forced to think the same, but instead think freely, dream feely, and live freely.
In the second quote Méliès is trying to get the point across that people don't have to simply be what society wants them to be. People can be whatever they want. The quote encourages the idea of dreaming and being your own unique person rather than following the crowd. Méliès also shows through the before stated quote that one will be not only more successful in life if they dream, but also much more happy.

social network pt 2

1. There is rarely a scene where Mark Zuckerberg is alone. How does this character view others and how do they view him? How is this conveyed? In what situations do we find him alone and what is he doing when he is by himself?
He views other's like a helping hand to reach his end goal. He doesn't view anyone as a friend really he just uses them to help himself. Anytime he talks to Eduardo he starts off with "I need this.." and they only ever talk about business together. There is not a conversation they had that was related to their personal lives. The only scene I can remember Mark by himself is when he thinks of his ex-girlfriend and decides to reach out to her which is a character development moment for him.

3. Is there anything stereotypical about the representation of adults?
Yes, in the movie the stereotype that adults are very not tech savvy was shown. Most of them laughed the situation off and thought it was ridiculous and would go nowhere at all, when in reality it was to become one of the largest and most successful corporations of all time. I believe that although young people typically do know more about internet businesses that older folks, that the movie over stereotyped them.
6. Does the film take a stance for or against the existence of Facebook? Does it comment in any way on the impact it has had on the world today?
In my opinion, the film takes a stand for Facebook. The film shows that when nobody else really truly believed in the internet social network, the internet could be used to create these businesses and be successful and not just a flop. The movie definitely does comment on compacting the world today, because it shows that such an oddball and weird idea can not only become something amazingly successful, but one of the worlds largest companies and a world changing service. It showed that Facebook changed the world by doing something nobody knew was possible, creating a way of communication all throughout the world.
